Quincey's 1st Birthday Party!

Well, it has been really fun to reminisce back on Quincey's birth and we can't believe it has already been one whole year! But he has been so much fun and has brought so much coolness into our home.

We were able to have a little party here with some friends and family. My favorite part of the party was unfortunately not documented I think because we were having too much fun to think of pictures! But imagine, if you will (drumroll please.........) Balloon Volleyball! It was Geren's idea, we split into two teams and were all sitting in chairs or on couches, and I am sure you can figure out the rest. Quincey sure had a lot of fun with it too, he sat on Geren's lap and helped hit the balloons.

Here are some pictures to help document the occasion...

This was pre-party celebrating... he got to lick the spatula of the cake batter!

And, because he is allergic to raw eggs... this was the results! Poor guy... but he was still so happy!

Yes! go for it!

Mom and Dad! you've been holding out!!!!

Quince digging into his cake. YUM! I was surprised at how long it took him, I thought he would dig right in! I also thought that he would bring a fistful of cake to his mouth, but he had bigger and better plans in mind.

Well, thanks to everyone for all of the wonderful gifts, and making Q's b-day so special.

Thank you!

Thank you for all of your comments on my last post. I thought I would answer some of your comments here.

1. I do joke a lot, but I am 100% serious on this one :)
(that would be a funny joke though, I should do that some time, thanks for the idea Jen..... muahahaha!)
2. I have been nauseous but have not thrown up at all (thank goodness) with Quincey I threw up quite a bit. So, I have been feeling pretty good overall.
3. I am 12 weeks along. It's gone pretty fast! I remember the first trimester taking forever! I think it helps keeping it a secret for a little while, it goes faster that way.

Thanks again for all of your support. Yay for bigger Tea Parties!

Importing Day

I finally decided to look through all of my old CD's and decided to import them into my computer so that I can finally listen to them on my Ipod. I really used to be the CD buying queen.
Some of my favorite albums:

Rachael Yamagata- Happenstance
Paul Simon- Graceland
The Essential Billy Joel- (2 discs)
Sarah Mclachlan- Surfacing and afterglow
Ben Folds- (pretty much anything by him or the five, is okay by me ;)
Coldplay- gotta love the CP!! (anything from them is good too)
Tim Mcgraw- Set this Circus Down
Bon Jovi!!!! I used to have the biggest crush on Jon (I lovingly called him Bon;))
The Cure- Galore
Jackie Greene- I really like all of his albums
Oingo Boingo- love Danny Elfman, musical genius
The Empire Records Soundtrack
Kenny Chesney-Greatest Hits

okay, I am sure there are more, and this list probably has a lot to do with my current mood... but that will do.

A Parent's guide

Did you know that the Church has A Parent's guide?
Well, on Monday for Family Home Evening, G and I went over some of the points in this guide, and we found it insightful. Just thought I would spread the love....

I found this hat today and tried it on Q just to see if it fit, and then he didn't want me to take it off! I think he has a very advanced sense of style!

blippity blappity.... (ie. randomness)

Just now, I was watching Q as he was under the computer desk. He kept trying to stand up, but kept hitting his head on the desk in the process. He started crying, because it started to hurt, but he kept doing it! Kept trying to stand up.
As I was watching him, I wondered how many times I do this same kind of thing trying to do something, unsuccessfully, getting the same results, but unwilling to change my methods. He of course finally stopped, with my encouragement of course, but this wasn't the first time it has happened, nor do I think it will be the last...
Unfortunately, it takes us humans a few times before we learn.

More Q baby pics

I just thought these pictures were so nice, that I had to post them, I came across them as I was posting the previous post.... so here they are.

How time flies!

This was Q's first day into the world.

This was before he became a chunk.

My very talented sister in law took the following pictures (the first two, were when Quince was maybe a couple of months old? And the last one was at the end of June, about 6 months old.)
With his 1 year birthday coming up on the 27th, it is neat to look back and see how much he has grown and developed over such a short time.

Christmas day.

Christmas morning! (Geren made sure everyone knew that Santa did not visit Iowa until about 9 or 10 in the morning.)

Opening his stocking.

Thanks for the cozy blanket Grandma and Grandpa, I think I am getting tired from opening all of the presents .

Now presenting: Q and his candy cane!

Q found this candy cane on the tree on Christmas morning, it had the wrapper on and everthing, but that didn't stop him!

This is what he did when we tried to take it away!

Nauvoo and Carthage

On a more positive note, we were able to visit Nauvoo and the Nauvoo Temple. It is such a beautiful temple and with so much history. It was a great privilege for us to experience.

This is a statue right outside of the temple, of Joseph and Hyrum's last ride out of Nauvoo to Carthage.

Quincey and I in Carthage Jail.

This is the window (the top one) that Joseph fell out of.

Our Iowa Trip!

Winter Fun!!

Well, many of you thought that we were insane to even think of driving all the way to Iowa City for Christmas, and you were probably right. We did have some crazy adventures on our travels to and from our destination, but we are now home safe, and have the crazy stories for memories for our many Christmases to come.

Basically, to make a long story short... For a trip that mapquest said should take 17 hours, on the way there took about 20 hours because of the weather. So, we thought the worst was over... NO@! On the way back, we found out that I-80 was closed so we had to stay the night in the great modern day metropolis of Laramie Wyoming!!!, and the next day the roads opened just enough to allow us to travel 70 miles from Laramie to Rawlins just to find out that the roads were closed again! So we had to stay the night in Rawlins too! Now the fun part about that 70 mile trip was that it took us 5 hours!!! There was an accident and we were forced to be at a stand still for 2 hours while they cleaned it up, and the weather was so bad that we had to drive about 5 to 10 miles an hour the entire time! So, 3 days later we are home and safe!!!

On a more positive note we had a blast at the Parkers! This was our first time visiting them since they moved to Iowa 2 years ago. It was great to see their beautiful home and to spend some time together. At the Amana Colonies What a big boy sipping from his own cup! and he didn't even mind me putting things on his head.

Spending some quality time with Grandma and Grandpa.
