New Kitchen Floor

How better to celebrate Labor Day weekend then to do some Labor?  We were able to put new tile in our kitchen.  Amazing how fast it went.  And we love the way it turned out.
The Floor Before (I forgot to get a close up)

Getting it all up!

Isn't that a fancy schmancy floor?  I was tempted to keep it. :)

Here is how it looks!  (Before Grout)

And here is the floor ALL DONE!!!

Sock Bubbles!

My kids were having the 'I'm bored' blues today, so we decided to make sock bubbles! We cut the bottom off of a water bottle, put a sock over it, dipped it in some water and soap solution.... And Sha-bam!!! Soap bubbles in the form of long snakes. We had a lot of fun!
One thing to watch out for though....Even though I kept telling them to make sure to blow out, Maiya forgot once and sucked in and got a mouth full of bubbles. It was a little bit funny.

Maiya's 5th Birthday!

My sweet baby girl turned the big FIVE! And since school started 2 days before her birthday, we decided to throw her a Minnie Mouse party on the Saturday before.  It turned out so great! Even if it did storm like crazy an hour into it and we had to move the party inside. She felt so special, as she should!!!

The food.  Quincey especially had fun with the names of the foods.  He still asks for  'Daisy's Doritos, or Pluto's Punch.  :)

On her Birthday Morning, Maiya woke up to a balloon surprise.  Even though I didn't get a picture of it, I filled the balloons all the way to the top.  At first she was a little scared about being trapped and said, "Mom! Being trapped is NOT how you make someone feel special."  But then a few minutes later she said, "Mom, that was the Best Birthday surprise! Can you do that for me every year?"

Birthday Presents!
This is such a fun game!  We have fun trying to guess who is on our foreheads.

Princess Sofia Amulet!  She has been begging for this for a LONG while.

Princess Sofia! All dressed up.  I think it is safe to say, all her birthday wishes came true!

Off to School!

Here are my cute big kids on the first day of school.  They went back on August 12th this year. 2 days before Maiya's Birthday.  It felt a little strange sending my 4 year old to school, but she was very excited. They are both doing really well and love their teachers.  Maiya got the same teacher that Quincey had, Ms. Cox, so she knew her well.  When Maiya found out, she was jumping up and down with excitement and repeating I got Ms. Cox! I got Ms. Cox!  So cute, we will see if she keeps that same excitement as the year progresses.  ;)  I love watching them walk home together, holding hands.  They take care of each other.

On another note, things have gotten a lot more quiet around here, and little Aftyn is handling it just fine.  On the first day, I was getting a little lonely because it was so quiet, so I walked into Aftyn's room where she was playing with her toys.  When she saw me she got up and pushed me out of the room and closed the door.  I guess she was enjoying her alone time!!!  Just a couple of more months of quiet and then we will add a newborn to the mix, and see how quiet it still is.

29 (and a half) weeks

32 weeks

Just for fun: Here I am at 32 weeks with Aftyn, It is fun to compare I think.

Not a big change in size from the two weeks, although the 29 weeks looks  a little bigger, maybe. Today, I was at the post office and the lady asked me my due date, and she said, "Not until October??? Oh, man! You are going to get so huge." Way to hold back your true feelings, lady.  ;)  I am still feeling really good, I sleep well, and I have plenty of energy. But I still have 8 more weeks to go! So, we will see if that continues.  It helps that the older kiddos are in school now and the option of taking a nap exists, although I am usually too busy playing word games on my itouch. (much more important.)
We are very excited to meet our baby boy.  Maiya especially has been very interested and asks a lot of questions about the baby. She always gives him a kiss goodbye when she leaves for school. She talks to him a lot, asks him what he's up to, and reassures him everything is going to be okay.  For example,  one day, we got on the topic of umbilical cords, and I told her about how that cord is removed and that is how we get belly buttons.  So now she makes sure that he knows that that cord is going to have to come off, but to not be scared, and he will be just fine.  She really is such a great helper.
