Good Interview
Day of Faith: Personal Quests for a Purpose - 3. Rachel Esplin from Harvard Hillel on Vimeo.
I really liked this video. It is an interview of a Mormon girl, Rachel Esplin, who goes to Harvard. The interviewer sometimes asks really leading questions, but I was so impressed by her answers. It can be so tough to stay calm and stay on the point, but I felt she did a good job of answering questions about the Mormon religion. Especially in explaining the fact that when we say that we believe that the church is true, it is not to say that all other religions are completely false. They do have many true points. But Christ did set up an organization when he was on the earth, an organization through which we can find the most truth, and we believe that was brought back by Joseph Smith.

Q's Birthday Party!
Quincey had his 2nd birthday yesterday. We had a fun party with a few of his friends. The theme was 'Trains'! I made a train cake for him, and it turned out really great, thanks to Courtney for letting me borrow the cake mold. It was really fun to decorate. Each kid got to have their very own cake train car. And it was sure handy not to have to cut the cake. The kids had kazoos to play with, and bubbles and of course 'Thomas the Train' balloons. It seemed like they all had a blast. I know Quincey sure did! This morning he has come up to me a few times and said, 'Mama!, Party???'
Train Party Hats!

I thought this face was pretty funny while we were trying to put the hat on Maiya.

Train Cake!

He is finally getting the opening presents thing down. (Christmas helped)

This is the video of Q blowing out a candle! I was so impressed that he knew how! Geren said that he had been practicing with him. He puckers his lips so hard!

The Indecisive Trait
Anyone who knows me, probably knows that I am not always the most decisive cookie in the box. If you take me to a restaurant, I like to be able to read through the entire menu to make sure I am not missing anything, and I will usually go back and forth several times before I make my perfect selection. Even if I have been there a million times before.
Well, I have a sneaky suspicion that this trait is hereditary.
A typical conversation between Q and me goes something like this...
Q: Mama, song?
M: Okay, which song would you like me to sing?
Q: ummmmm...... Pig? (which means old McDonald had a farm)
M: Okay!
And then about 2 seconds after I start singing it, I hear...
Q: ummmm...... Snowman?
And then 2 seconds after I start that one...
Q: NO! ummmm.... Bingo!
etc., etc until he has listed all of the songs he knows and then repeats them.....
Now, If this habit only happened with songs this would not be a problem. This happens with food, clothing, toys, and many other things. The worst is movies. Because he will beg and beg and beg for Cars, and then I put it in and fast forward through the previews and finally get to where it starts and of course he starts whining... NO! Panda!!!
Now, I hope you do not believe that I cater to all of these wishes, No, Ma'am! But, wow, it is sure something we are having to work on. He his getting better with time, he is learning to sit there and warm up to the activity. The good part of this, is I think it has almost cured me of my indecisive-ness, because it gets so old!

Civil Rights Journey
I saw this video, Civil Rights Journey on my friend Megan's blog, and was also very touched by it. I admire people who are go-getters. Who have the courage to take a stand for what they believe in, even when it can bring them harm. We really have come a long way in such a short time. I hope you are having a good Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
We're Back!
Sorry that I haven't been on in awhile. My internet has been down for like a week! But, I am back now! Now you'd think that I would have all sorts of things to report... hmmm.... Is my life really that uneventful?
I will just give you things to look forward to. Q's B-day is in one week! I can't believe my boy is turning two. I think I am going to be taking a try at making him a cool cake. You know, a cool one.
I guess I do have a couple of things to report... I got called into the nursery in my ward. (yep, Lorraine, you called it) I know, I guess they didn't think that I should EVER get to be away from my son. ;) No, but actually I am pretty excited. Geren has been really busy with his calling as Elder's Quorum President, so I am glad to be in a calling that is pretty much 'Sunday only'.
In other news... American Idol is back on! And I am loving every minute of it. My favorite so far is Jason Castro's brother. Go Castros!!!! And Lost starts again this week, so I am way pumped about that.
Maiya has started to eat solids. Yes, I gave in, she started waking up more during the night to eat... so I thought it was time. She sleeps through the night again now, so YAY! She is getting pretty good at it. Quincey thinks it is the coolest thing too. He is always trying to give her his food while screaming, "MAIYA!"
Quincey is sure getting good with her, and not mauling her as much. They are becoming good friends.
