Quinceys 6th BirthdayParty!!!

***Warning: Picture Overload!****
Well, my Mario fan had his party today and it was a blast! I got a little carried away with this theme because it was surprisingly fun. And since stores don't carry Mario party stuff, creativity was called for!

I found these visors 3 for $1.00 at the dollar store and made them into Mario and Luigi hats.  The blue one is 'ice mario' which happened to be Quincey's favorite. Then I made them little hand held mustaches. And the crowns were for the Princess Peaches in the house.
Here are the goodie bags that the kids got to take home.
The boxes were filled with toy coins and candy, and that mushroom is a pencil sharpener and eraser combo.

Pin the mustache on Mario... I dusted off my artist skills and drew the Mario and Bowser posters.  The kids helped me a little too! And now they are hanging in Quincey's room.
These are yoshi eggs.  I emptied out the egg, very carefully, filled it with confetti and the kids got to throw the yoshi eggs at Bowser! This was by far everyone's favorite game.  They all wished that I would have made a hundred more eggs, but I insisted that I really do have a life! (not sure they believed me though.)
This Bowser had no idea what was coming!
We also played Shy Guy says, basically like Simon Says.  When I held up a Shy Guy plate they had to do what I said, when I held up a regular guy plate, they didn't do it. If you are not sure what a Shy Guy is... this is a shy guy.

I made this bob-omb out of a flat old soccer ball that we had laying around.  The kids passed it around like hot potato and then I would yell 'BOB-OMB!' And who ever was stuck with him would have to pretend to explode. The kids had a lot of fun exploding.
Beautiful Maiya modeling a Mario mustache.

Baby Mario :)

Some of the crew all dressed up. :)

Here is a close up on the Boo balloons.  I made 20 of these! Good thing it is tax season, and I never see my husband anyways. ;) While we were waiting for others to show up, we played 'Keep Boo off the Ground.'

This was a King Boo Balloon pop.  We tied Boo to their ankles and the kids had to try to pop each others. The last man standing got to keep all of the coins that were inside the balloons.  Amazing how kids get so excited about pennies. They think they are rich!

Fire Flower Fruit juice

Ice Flower water

The cake! After making all of those 1-up mushroom cupcakes, I was in no mood to make a cake, but no one makes Mario cakes around here! So, I improvised and had them make a 'Cars' design without the toys, and I added our own Mario and a flag that I found for $1.00 at Target. Perfect!
The face that makes all of the hard work worth it!  Happy 6th Birthday to our sweet Quincey.

Q's classroom treats

We got to take some cupcakes to Quincey's class for his Birthday (which is tomorrow.) Since he is having a Mario birthday party, we decided to make Mario '1-up' mushroom cupcakes. They were a hit! And fun to make.
Can't believe my boy is almost 6! We are do proud of him. Just a quick story to illustrate his good heart. Yesterday was his book fair at his school and while the kids were checking out the lady would ask them if they wanted to give their extra penny to kids who might not have enough money. Quincey's teacher said that most kids said no. ( which I thought was interesting.) but when it was Quincey's turn he said, " Sure we have tons and tons of extra money to share!" Haha! He is always thinking of others. :) to tease me, Mrs. Cox said that since we have so much extra money maybe we could donate a $25,000 panda cow that the kids read about in a book that day and asked if they could have. I said Sure!!! ;)
Happy Birthday to my sweet boy.

Maiya's surgery

Maiya had surgery on her umbilical hernia on Thursday. Everything went really well. She has recovered very quickly. She was super brave. She has received lots of special treatment including balloons and coloring books etc. She still has some strips over the surgical site that need to fall off naturally, but it is obvious that the bulge is gone. It is nice to have the surgery over with! She is excited too.

Mesa Verde

We were lucky to have some visitors over Christmas break. Kevin, Sydney, Kalei and Kaui came and visited us, and we had a great time! We got to go see Mesa Verde, it was very beautiful. We all loved to see the ruins.

Merry Christmas

We had a wonderful Christmas.  Everyone was spoiled as per usual.  We got to spend time just together.  I made a pretty big meal with Turkey, gravy, potatoes, oven roasted broccoli, Fruit and veggie tray. I made some pies too. We also got a bunch of bottles of Martinelli's Sparkling Apple Juice (which Quincey named 'Spicy Juice.')  So, we didn't feel like we missed out at all.  It was all yummy stuff.

This cracks me up

Here are my girls sitting on Maiya's new rocking horse and ROCKING OUT!  I love how Aftyn dances with her arms above her head.  So funny.

Maiya got a haircut!

Awhile ago Maiya was at a friends house and the friend snipped a piece of her hair. It was pretty inconspicuous to most people unless I pointed it out, so I just left it, but it still bugged me. So when it was time to get her hair cut, I asked her if we should cut it all even and she agreed. So, here is my little short hair cutie.
