I am not promoting this movie, don't worry...
I just really liked this movie review about the Golden Compass. I know it is a controversial movie, but I liked what this guy had to say. Especially this quote...
Rather than saying, “I wonder if the Magisterium is supposed to represent the modern Catholic church?,” sit on the edge of your seat and say “Wow! Two polar bears beating the shale out of each other. Cool!”

OK! I too have completely heard all the brew-ha-ha on this movie. Yet, I still really want to see it. Just not w/ my kids. :) Sam Elliot did say that the movie is not really a kid movie. And I agree.
