Dreamy Strawberry Cake

My kids were playing strawberry shortcake games on the computer here, and found this recipe.  And they begged me to make it, and frankly it sounded really good, so we made it!  It was delicious, and we had so much fun making it!  I think my kids have found a new hobby..... Baking! (and eating). Which happen to be my favorite hobbies too.  :)

                                       

Four (and 1/2) Month Stats

Aftyn had her 4 month appointment today.  And her doctor called her 'over-all gigantic'. She was 16 lb. 7oz. (90% weight), 27 inches long (off the charts tall), and her head circumference is 43 inches (also off the charts).  She is doing really well. I have been trying to stay at home for now though, because it is so hard lugging her in that car seat around. She is getting more interested in all of the noise and fun that everyone else seems to be having though, and I am having a harder time getting her to sleep and take naps.  But, we are getting through!  I love my beautiful girl!

Aftyn sure has found her voice! It is very difficult to watch TV when you hear this girl talking so loud!!!

Siblings and Friends

I love watching Quincey and Maiya play together.  I do not love to watch them fight together, but they seem to go hand in hand, unfortunately.  Yesterday Quincey got a package in the mail with a little sticker book from his sweet Sunday school teacher.  Maiya was so jealous that she burst into tears and as dramatically as she could threw herself on the floor and beat the ground with her fists.

 I left her alone for a little while before I picked her up and tried to console her.  While I was holding her, Quincey came and handed her the book, it made her calm down instantly.  I was grateful that he was willing to let her look at it, so I told him so.  He looked a little sad and said, I really didn't want to give it away, but I felt like that was the right choice to make Maiya happy.  Then he suddenly got this idea.  He went in his room and grabbed a book, then he went outside and left the book in between our screen door and rang the doorbell.  Maiya went and picked it up, and was thrilled that she was getting some mail from her brother! This, of course became a game that they played for awhile, and it made them both so happy. 

I am so grateful that they are learning to love each other and to serve each other.  I have really been trying to make a point to remember these kind of great stories, because they help me to not get so frustrated when they are fighting over the silliest things.  Because they really do play well together the majority of the time.
